Lead Workshop Engineer

About the company:
A leading plant hire Company have had a position come up internally for a lead workshop engineer. They are a very well established with 7 depots across the UK and strong plans to grow further.

The successful Lead Workshop engineer will be:

  • Lead Workshop Engineer will be managing a team of 4 engineers assuring they adhere to and follow procedures in a plant hire workshop.
  • Lead Workshop Engineer will need to ensure a high standard of generator repairs are carried out within the scheduled timeframe.
  • Lead Workshop Engineer will be in charge of maintaining and ensuring all the stores stock levels are correct.
  • Lead Workshop Engineer will be in charge of helping, supporting and providing guidance to the engineers on generator work. They will also be providing training to a new apprentice.
  • Lead Workshop Engineer will also be going to Generator callouts should the engineers need support in the field.
  • Lead Workshop Engineer will enforce and make sure all health and safety rules and regulations are followed, including PPE.
  • Lead Workshop Engineer will also be responsible for planning, maintaining and managing the workshop to meet the business needs and customer requirements for products and equipment's.


The successful Lead Workshop Engineer will have:

  • Lead Workshop Engineer will need prior experience in an engineering workshop and or site environment. Including a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in electrical or mechanical.
  • Lead Workshop Engineer will need product knowledge and experiences in fault finding on Power Generation equipment.
  • Previous experience managing a team and tracking others KPI'S
  • Full UK Driving license


Below is desirable but not needed

  • ISOH health and safety
  • Forklift B1 /B2 License
  • Previous experiences training apprentices


Package and benefits (negotiable depending on experiences)

  • 35,000 - 45,000 basic salary
  • Overtime of Time and a Half between 16:30 - 22:00 anything after is X2
  • 08:00 - 16:30 Monday to Friday
  • 20 days holiday + bank holiday with the ability to earn more after years of service
  • Company Van + Fuel card
  • Further development, Certifications, licenses etc
  • Call out 1 in 3 weeks with a retainer of 150 + Hourly pay x1 and after 10pm X2
  • Must be a commutable distance of Portsmouth
